We’re happy to announce that the animation we created for Together for Short Lives, has just won a Digital Entrepreneur Award. The film, “We’re having a baby” won an Animation or Gaming Project of the Year award beating five other nominees.
Together for Short Lives is the leading UK charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. Our motion graphics video used real-life stories to show how this not for profit helps families, which gives an emotional resonance and authenticity to the film. At first parents feel adrift when they hear heart-breaking news, but with help from the Together for Short Lives helpline and the support of palliative care services, they feel grounded again. We worked with illustrator and animator Katy Davis to bring these stories to life.
Jon Mowat, MD of Hurricane Media said:
“We’re so proud that our ‘We’re having a baby’ film for Together for Short Lives has won this award, which will help to raise awareness about their valuable work. After hearing from parents who had benefited from their services, the whole Hurricane team was keen to help raise the charity’s profile with a video. We achieved this by doing what we do best – telling stories.”
Myra Johnson, Director of Communications at Together for Short Lives, said: “We are thrilled to win a digital entrepreneur award for our We’re Having a Baby animation. The film draws on our experience of working closely with families and the children’s palliative care sector and uses animation to tell a difficult story.
“Winning this prestigious award will help us communicate the needs of families caring for the 49,000 children in the UK with life-limiting conditions and to reach out to more families to reassure them that there are specialist children’s palliative care services for them.”
The Digital Entrepreneur Awards are the UK’s only national awards dedicated to internet entrepreneurialism. Our charity animation is already an award-winner and has been nominated for a Media Innovation Award, coming up later this month.
